See, I AM just a kid!

OMG. THIS makes having a child worthwhile.. completely. The following conversation really took place today... no names or numbers have been changed.

Son: Mommy, what are you going to be when you grow up?

Me: Well, I already am a grown up and I love the job I have.

Son: No, you're not grown up yet!!

Me: I'm not?? How old do I have to be in order to be grown up?

Son: 17 years old!

Me: And you don't think I'm 17 yet?

Son: Noooooooooo

Me: I love you. How old do you think I am really then?

Son: You're just 16, Mommy. But I think when I'm 17, I'll be an astronaut. And when you turn 17 you can join me and we'll both wear astronaut space suits and make lots of money.

Me: **laughing a bit hysterically by now**

Son: What... don't you like that plan?

Me: It's an awesome plan, Baby... an awesome plan.

Beautiful

After my jog today I just had to stop and take some snaps of these little lovelies. The oak tree was totally loaded down with them. I've actually never seen acorns growing on a tree. I've only seen them once they've been harvested. I was fascinated at their developing design.

But even more fascinating and interesting were these little red deposits. I can only imagine that they must be some sort of egg. Some leaves were dusted with several, some leaves just had one. They were really quite stuck on there, but I didn't poke around too much, as I didn't want to disturb whatever it was. Does anyone know? In any case, the colors of them were very eye catching and they begged to have their photos taken. It made me wish I had a super macro or more so I could have gotten even closer.

Some things I need to say to you...

  • Hatred never prevails, but love always does.
  • There are only good people and bad people, good people do good deeds, bad people do bad things - there are no other distinctions for humanity.
  • Acts of generosity and kindness will always supersede hatred if we open our hearts and our minds.
  • Sometimes the right thing can be an inconvenience, but if it makes a difference to even one person, it is worthwile.
  • Even the biggest challenges in life can be overcome with perserverance and desire.
  • Never compromise your beliefs.
  • Believe in yourself.
  • Never forget that when you make a promise to somebody it should be held in the highest regard until it is fulfilled.
  • Treat others with dignity and respect and this shall be returned to you ten fold.
  • Conflicts are often just misunderstandings.
  • No matter how well you think you know something, there's always a new way to look at it.
  • The importance of family and friends should never be forgotten.
  • Tell those you love that you love them.
  • Believe in a higher power, whatever one is comfortable for you.
If you agree with any or all of these things, spread the word. Together we can make the world a happier healthier place.

If you like what I've said here, go watch the movie My Name Is Khan. It's the best example of all of this stuff that I've said here. I'm serious.

I love you.

Spit

Okay, so I've been out jogging the last 2 days and when I'm done jogging I've been indulging in my favorite basics... crunches, squats, push ups, steps, etc. But that's neither here nor there. There is really only one reason for me to be writing this post. And it's a totally serious question regarding sport ettiquite.

Are people involved in heavy exercise allowed to spit?

Cuz when I jog, even though I'm drinking water, I still get that really thick saliva that forms a white lining at the corners of your mouth if you're not mindful and forget to wipe it away. That sticky spit that just coats your whole mouth and no matter now hard you try, you can't really swallow it? It feels like the only course of action is to spit it out. Scrape if off the lining of the cheeks, and the tongue and toss it to the edge (when nobody's around to see, of course). But I want to know if it's allowed or acceptable, incase I ever go running with someone one day and I get the dreaded sticky spit mouth thing when I'm with them, which is pretty much guaranteed to happen.

Please, do let me know!

I finally got it!

All is right in the world!! I FINALLY got my proper region DVD of My Name Is Khan in the mail today!!! I've never been so excited to get a movie ever!! I opened it and put it on as soon as I got home! YAY!! My sister got it for me for my bday back in June, but it was the wrong region, so my DVD player wouldn't read it. But now.. problem solved!

I'll stop watching it now though, and continue tonight when I can:

a) Give it the proper attention it deserves
b) Feel free to cry my eyes out, and
c) Revel in the aftermath of the greatest movie ever

OHHHHHH!!! I'm SOOO thrilled!!!

I'm disgusting.

I always sit with my legs up, or my feet up, or my legs crossed.. rarely do you ever see me with both feet on the ground unless I'm walking or doing something that requires both feet.

On the way to Banff today with my soul sistaaaa I was the passenger and I was sitting with one knee bent with my foot up on the seat, and one hanging to the floor of the car. I glanced down and saw this shimmer on the top of my foot as the sun's rays finally decided to grace our presence. Naturally, when something shiney catches your eye, you're drawn to it. So I look down for a longer duration and was totally horrified at what I saw!!!

OMG. Seriously??? Since when had my body decided to turn me into part warewolf or sasquatch?? The sun's beautiful rays drew attention expertly to the fact that I had a total forest of hair growing on the top of my right foot!!! Horrified, I wasted no time looking at my left foot and to my utter dismay, there was a forest on that one too! So I gasped, and hissed and spat and then broke out the terrible news to my sis. "Vix!!! OMG, Look at the top of my feet?? They are SOOOO hairy! Ooooooh God, it's disgusting!!" to which she promptly responded with a giant belly laugh that left her in tears... such compassion, I tell you. So we compared feet and she had NO top-of-foot hair. So it left me to believe I am a total freak of nature! Once I got over the shock and horror of it all, we laughed our little asses off until we could barely breathe.

For the rest of the day, we made constant "dog" or "wolf" references, and it was soooo funny. BUT, the terrible situation HAD to be rectified. So as soon as I got home and was available to do so, out came the waxing strips and schwooouuuuuppp!!! I ripped those big bad boys out, chicken louey!! No way I would be left in a position where I was actually afraid of the next full moon.

Have a look at how gross it was before. Really. Blow it up even. It's ok... because now that I'm aware of this malfunction, I will for sure keep tabs on it from now on!

Love

People ask me what I love about Indian film and Indian music. This song comes from my all time favorite movie, My Name Is Khan. I think it explains why I love the music so much......

Could you imagine being worshipped by your love so much that they dedicated a song such as this one to you?? W-O-W. I mean, THIS song is love. Now that would be the person to stay with your whole life through... and then beyond. Everyone deserves this kind of love in their life. It's not just a myth.. it really does exist. You just have to locate it and then find a way to hang on to it. :)

My thoughts...

As I sat in total tranquility I became aware. Awareness makes you see things you never saw before. I grasped the pen, scribbled on the napkin and these words slipped from my brain to my fingertips with ease this evening. I felt comfort and a sense of purity.

***********************************************
A shiny fly sits atop a blade of grass
The sun reflects off its back and wings
It sparkles with all colors of the rainbow
It bathes to clean away the settled dust
It is beautiful, it is free
I marvel at the simplicity of its life.

A long spider treks across the endless landscape
It traverses mountains and valleys without complaint
Its tiny feet touch the grass six times more than mine ever could
I marvel at its ability to feel so much more than I.

A ruby dragonfly happily clings to a strangers back unknowingly
It savors the feeling of movement without having to flap its wings
It will stay as long as it is welcome, it needs the break
I marvel at its ability to know safety from danger.

***********************************************
Lessons can be learned even from the smallest of things, all you have to do is open your eyes and be willing to see.

Create your own sunshine

When it's rainy and dreary outside, I like to look at photos of my flowers to make me feel warm and sunshiney again. This one's in my back yard.. a single daisy. I think the intricacy of the reproductive middle is so astounding and beautiful.

I completely want Kent to win the So You Think You Can Dance finale. OMG he's ADORABLE and what an awesome dancer!! Woohoo!!

YouTube wouldn't let me embed this video, but I watched it 4 times last week.. (thank you Shell for having PVR) and totally fell in love with this little cutie pie in the white. Wow. I have total respect for dancers, they are amazing atheletes!!

Kent Boyd and Neil Haskell.. choreographed by Travis Wall.

It doesn't get much better than that! Although.. having said that, Robert really is divine as well. Mmmm.

I can't wait to see who wins!!

something to take your mind off my last post

It's donned on me that I shouldn't leave a poo post up for too long without following it up with something else. So I sit here typing without much of anything more than a flitter or a spark of intelligence floating around in my brain.

I've been so tired lately. It's self inflicted. I stay up too late, and get up too early. When I came back from the lake, I had found that I was dealing with another candida infection. The last time, I had to go on a sugar-free diet and take this oral stuff that kills yeast in my intestines. And after a few weeks, my head came out of the fog and I was finding that I didn't need sleep as much anymore. I think that's what's going on again.. though by mid day I'm ready for a nap.

Being on a sugar-free diet is difficult. Most of the time I just can't be bothered eating, because it's too hard to find something that I'm allowed to eat. There's sugar in everything, just about. Well, everything that's worthwhile putting to my lips. It's good though, I'm still losing weight. Last time I lost 10 pounds, but I was also exercising heavily then. I've been lazy since i came back from the lake, too. I need to start exercising again. I can't wait to lose 2 more pounds, actually. That will be 31 pounds lost, and will put me close to where my original goal weight was. But I will strive to keep on losing.

Talking of eating, I'm hungry now. Crap. What'll I have. I really shouldn't eat any more of that trail mix.. not for a few days.

yummy mixture

I have been too serious lately on this blog.

Today, all I want to say to you is that by the time tomorrow comes, I will have digested several cups of "Joe's Tasty Travels Texas Hold Em Mix". It's a delicious trail mix with nuts, seeds and currants.. and I'm very certain I won't be able to 'hold em' in for very long. I am so looking forward to the righteous giant BM this is destined to give me. Ooooohhhhhhh yeeeeahhhh!!!

Giddyap!

Learn more about the people you love.

Well, for the past hour and a half, I've been reading astrology stuff. If you've read my blog long, you know I read a daily horoscope.. and I do this for myself, but also for my closest at heart. I like to see what my day's got in store for me, as well as theirs. Today I came across this interesting site. It's a really good one, and I think possibly quite accurate, at least it is for defining my personality. It gives the general personality traits for each zodiac sign, then specifically for a man, woman or child, and then talks about your compatibility with each sign. Go ahead, have a read of mine ... let all my secrets be bared. LOL Actually, I think that when you meet people, knowing how to interpret body language is a must, as I said last time I was here, but I'm beginning to understand more and more why people who meet people ask what their sign is.

I think I'll bury my head in astrology for a while and see if I can understand the people in my life just that little bit better.
On a different note, I went out to my back yard the other night to snap some photos of one of the prettiest flowers in my garden right now and I had literally a dozen or more mosquitos attack me all at the same damn time. Do you know how hard it is to take a photo when being bombed by biting bugs? Sheeesh. This one turned out ok though, in the 30 seconds that I was outside.
